The People of Efling will kick off Efling’s series of meetings in Gerðuberg

[et_pb_section bb_built=”1″][et_pb_row][et_pb_column type=”4_4″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.9″]It is with great pleasure that Efling – trade union, invites its members, and everyone else interested, to this fall’s first meeting in Gerðuberg, this Saturday at 14:30. The meeting will start with a presentation of the project The People of Efling (Fólkið í Eflingu) The project, created by journalist and photographer Alda Lóa Leifsdóttir, introduces members of Efling through text and images, promoting the importance of the people standing by the machines, the people waiting tables, cleaning floors, and those caring for children, the sick and the elderly.After the presentation, the chairman of Efling, Sólveig Anna Jónsdóttir, invites guests to discuss the union’s status and its goals, as well as member’s ideas in relation to the upcoming bargaining this winter.The meeting is open to everyone for as long as space permits, but the guests of honour – The People of Efling – are especially encouraged to attend.The meetings in this series will cover various topics and will be held in Gerðuberg at 14:30, every Saturday until mid-December. The meetings will be focused on subjects of interest to Efling’s members and some of the meetings will be especially aimed at specific groups of members, e.g. certain professions or language groups.Coffee and refreshments will be offered at the end of the formal schedule, but guests are expected to leave the building before Gerðuberg’s closing time, at 16:00.The meeting will be streamed live and recorded, to enable people who cannot attend the meeting to watch from home.
