On Saturday, December 1, Efling invites you to an open meeting where the union’s Wage Survey results will be presented. As in recent years, Gallup has produced an extensive survey with valuable information about the attitudes and condition of Efling members. Tómas Bjarnason from Gallup will start the meeting by presenting the main results, after which Sara Öldudóttir, an Efling analyst, will explain how they connect to the demands made by Efling and other SGS unions in the current wage negotiations.
As per usual, the questions asked are in line with those in previous years, making it possible to trace the trends over time, although new questions have also been added. This year, a question on abolishing indexed housing loans was added, as well as other questions about debt. The new leadership of Efling has put special emphasis on equality, and the new survey has taken this into account by asking whether members agree with equalising wages in Icelandic society, as well as what methods the members think are most effective to achieve that goal.
New questions on the pension fund system also reflect demands for its review, which have grown more forceful recently. Trust in the system has now been investigated, and whether the members believe it will be possible to live off their pension when they retire.
The meeting starts punctually at 14:30 and it will be livestreamed through the Efling Facebook page. Cake and coffee will be offered after the presentation.
