Ballot on Strike Call – Security Service Companies

The Election Committee of Efling – Union hereby advertises a general secret electronic ballot on the calling of a strike that will affect all jobs in security service companies that are performed according to the general collective agreement of SA (Confederation of Icelandic Enterprise) and Efling – Union which was in effect from April 1 2019 and expired on November 1 2022.

Those members who are affected by this call will vote on it.

The strike is indefinite and begins at 12 noon Tuesday, February 28,2023 unless collective agreements have been made or the strike delayed before that time.

In addition to previously called strikes already in effect, this strike applies to all work done according to

The strike applies to all work in security services companies under Efling contracts which is
performed at or operating from workstations based in the Efling area of operations according
to art. 1 of the union bylaws. This applies equally to those work under the general collective agreement of Efling – Union and those jobs who are also done under special agreements or workplace agreements.

The voting will begin at 12 o´clock noon on Thursday February 16 2023.

The vote shall conclude at 6pm on Monday, February 20, 2023.

The strike call was approved in the meeting of the Negotiations Committee of Efling on February 12 2023. The text in full is available here.

The link to access electronic voting can be found here above (will be active at 12 noon on 16/2/2023). All members on the electoral register who have a registered e-mail address with the union will also receive the link by e-mail. Electronic ID is required to vote.

Efling members who are not on the electoral register but think they should have the right to vote shall send a letter to the election committee and ask to be added to the electoral register. The request should include a payslip or an employment contract. The request and its accompanying documents will be treated with confidentiality and it shall be sent to the email address felagsmal@efling.is.

Efling members who are not able to participate in the electronic ballot can cast their ballot in absentia with a paper ballot in the Efling office during its opening hours. Those who wish to do this need to bring a valid ID, such as a drivers license, passport or an ID issued by Registers Iceland (Þjóðskrá).
