Strike Benefits: What You Need to Know

The union pays out a strike benefit to all members who are on strike. 

To receive the benefit, members must follow the application instructions explained here. 

The benefit is 25.000 kr. for each day of full-time work that members lose wages due to strike. The amount is adjusted according to job percentage. 

Income tax is deducted from the benefit. 

The benefit will be paid out on the last weekday of the month. 

IMPORTANT: To receive the benefit, you must do the following: 

  1. Send your latest pay slip to the email address strike@efling.is. 
  1. Have your bank account registered in Efling My Pages
  1. Confirm your application on location as advertised by the union.

The first on-location confirmation for the strike benefit application is on Tuesday February 7 in Iðnó meeting hall (Vonarstræti 3, 101 Reykjavík) from 12:00 – 16:00. A later time and place for confirmation will be advertised. Please bring ID. 

If you are sick and cannot make it to confirm your application, please send an email to strike@efling.is. If you are sick for more than two days, send a doctor’s note to strike@efling.is, the same applies for attending to a sick child. 

The first day of the strike, which begins at noon, will count as a half day unless workers were scheduled to work a full day on that day (e.g. evening shift). If this applies to you, please send an email to strike@efling.is
