Application and allocation of summer houses

The easter period 2026 is from April 1st – April 8th, only weekly rentals are possible, from Wednesday to Wednesday.

Application period for summer houses this easter starts January 15th and ends January 22nd, application will be open at the booking web at this period. The day of application does not matter, as the allocations will be decided basing on the points system. The applications are evaluated using a special system of points which is based on how long the member has been paying dues in the union. Allocation will start on January 26th, members will receive an sms, and payment deadline is February 2nd. The day after, February 3rd at 8.00 am the booking web is open for all members, irrespective of point status, for the houses still available this easter.

The rental period for summer 2026 is from May 28th to August 28th. Only weekly rentals are available, either from Thursday to Thursday or Friday to Friday, depending on the area.

The application period for summer rentals 2026 is from February 11th to March 11th, and applications can be submitted on My Pages during this time. Allocation will be based on the point system. All members may apply; the allocation results are determined solely by the applicant’s point status. The results will be sent by SMS, and the payment deadline is March 20th.

After that, a second allocation will take place for members with over 100 points. The booking website will then open for everyone who has the right to book available houses over the summer on March 30th at 8:00 am.

Note that when applying for an allocation on the booking website at My pages, select “orlofshús” and then “umsókn”. When a summer house is booked after the allocation is completed,  then select “laus hús”, book and complete the payment immediately.

The summerhouses are very popular during the winter, especially houses that are a short distance from the capital area. It is usually fully booked on weekends approx. one month in advance, so it is necessary to book in time to get accommodation at a time that suits you. The fall/winter season is from August 29th 2025 to May 29th 2026. Then you can book both weekend and weekly rent. However, only weekly rentals are available during the holidays, i.e. Christmas and New Year, and then Easter. Christmas and the new year weeks this year are on 21.12.26- 28.12.2026 and 28.12.2026 – 04.01.2027. Bookings for Christmas and New Year start on September 11th at 8:00 am. It is only available to choose either Christmas or New Year’s week.

Attention Rule change

Points will be deducted from all rentals starting November 1^st 2023

Member also needs to have enough points in their account to be able to rent.

A member cannot rent a house with minus points.
