The discussion regarding a shorter work week – a reinvention of the arrangement of working hours

The shortening of the workweek and the new arrangement of working hours have presented us with challenges as to how it can be implemented practically at each workplace without reducing services.

The new working arrangement is built on a dialogue between administrators and staff and union representatives and unions have a crucial role to play.

The course covers the ideology of Design thinking regarding the reinvention of working arrangements. The focus will be on how the ideology is useful for the reorganization of the workday, the importance of daring to try something new and will encourage the attendees to reexamine the reasons for why we work and why we do things a certain way and to seek new methods.

Attendees will receive a copy of the book SHORTER (STYTTRI) by Dr. Alex S. Pang, futurologist.

The instructor is Sara Lind Guðbergsdóttir, lawyer and the book’s translator. She is a lawyer at KMR/FJR and works at Ríkiskaup as an expert.

It takes place on September 14th of 2021 from 9am to 12 o’clock noon.

It takes place at Guðrúnartún 1

Fee: 22.000 kronas

The courses are taught in Icelandic and are open to all. Union representatives can attend for free. Union members can apply for an individual grant for the courses from the educational funds of Efling.
