Cancellations and changes to the lease agreement

The tenant can cancel a booking up to 7 days before the start of the stay and receive a refund. The refund is paid into the bank account registered by the tenant.

• If the booking is cancelled 7–13 days before the start of the stay, the tenant receives a 50% refund of the booking fee.
• If Efling staff are able to rent the holiday home to another member for the same rental period, the tenant receives a 75% refund. The refund is paid into the bank account registered by the tenant.
• If the booking is cancelled less than 7 days before the start of the stay, no refund is provided.

For changes to the lease agreement for a holiday house a booking fee of 1.500 kr. If the tenant wishes to submit or change the lease agreement, send a request by email to orlof@efling.is with information about the tenant's name and personal ID together with the contract number.

If the tenant is unable to reach the holiday home due to weather or impassable road conditions, they must notify Efling by email at orlof@efling.is before the rental period begins.

A condition for receiving a refund due to weather is that the Icelandic Meteorological Office has issued a weather warning. A full refund is provided in such cases.

Travel to and from holiday homes is the tenant's responsibility, and Efling does not cover any costs the tenant may incur due to adverse weather conditions. It is important to check the weather forecast and road conditions before setting off.

A notification must be sent by email to orlof@efling.is before the rental period begins. The Vacation Fund may also grant a refund upon presentation of a medical certificate.

• The booking fee is refunded in full, as stated in the rental agreement.
• Refunds are paid into the bank account registered by the tenant.
• The booking fee is not refunded if notification is received after the rental period has started.
