General rights
Members must have been continuously registered with the union for at least six months and be at least 20 years old. This requirement generally applies to members wishing to rent a holiday house.
Each eligible member may book a holiday house for the winter rental period once before the New Year and once after the New Year. To make a booking, members simply need to log in to Mínar síður using electronic identification. Members who do not have electronic identification may contact the Efling office or request assistance by email at orlof@efling.is.
Members who are unemployed and pay union membership fees from their unemployment benefits retain their right to rent a holiday house, provided they had been a member of the fund for at least six consecutive months before becoming unemployed. The same applies to members with full membership status.
Members who retire due to age or disability retain their right to rent holiday houses based on the points they have accumulated, until their points have been used up or until the end of the sixth year after they begin receiving an old-age or disability pension, whichever comes first.
