Educational and career counseling

Get help deciding on your next step

It is not always easy to know what options are available or what suits you best. In educational and career counselling, you speak with a counsellor who helps you look at your situation, experience and possible next steps.

Counselling can be useful for Efling members who want to strengthen their position in their current job, explore education, have their experience assessed or think about a change.

Don't know which course or program is right for you?

want to see if your experience can be valued

haven't been studying for a long time and are unsure where to start

are thinking about a job change or career development

want to strengthen your position in your current job

want to explore your strengths, interests and skills

want help with a resume or cover letter

need to discuss barriers such as time, language, cost or previous learning experiences

Do I need counseling?

Counseling may be appropriate if you...

What can a counselor help with?

review your work experience and tasks

examine interests, strengths and skills

find courses or study programs that might be suitable

get information about practical skills assessment

consider whether previous studies or work experience can be used in the future

work on a resume and cover letter

How is the interview conducted?

You book an appointment with a study and career counselor.

During the interview, you will discuss your position, experience, interests, and what you would like to explore further.

You don't have to come up with a ready-made plan. It's enough to come up with a question or an idea.

If you have a CV, course certificates, or documents about previous studies, it can be a good idea to have them on hand.

Is the consultation free?

Educational and career counseling is generally free of charge for people with a short period of formal schooling.

Counseling can be a good place to start if you are not sure which program, course, competency assessment, or career development is right for you.

Efling can refer members to the right person.
