 About the Efling Congress

The Efling Congress was held at Austurbæjarbíó on Snorrabraut on 26 and 27 February 2026.

The Efling Congress was a major event and an important innovation in the union’s work. Its purpose was to strengthen the voice of members and help shape the union’s policies in the interests of working people.

At the Congress, active members worked together on policy development through a structured programme, group work and the adoption of resolutions. Guest speakers from Iceland and abroad also addressed the Congress.

Efling’s Delegate Council prepared the policy proposals for the Congress, while the Congress itself had the final say on the adoption of resolutions. The main areas of focus were housing, wage theft and respect in the workplace.



The programme ran from Thursday morning until Friday afternoon and concluded with a gala dinner on Friday, 27 February.
