Efling members working at Eimskip have in recent weeks prepared for negotiations with the company on renewing a special collective agreement.
Newly appointed union reps and other Efling members from the ranks of drivers and dock workers met just before Christmas at the Efling Community Center. A draft of demands was drawn up at the meeting, and a negotiating committee was elected. Sólveig Anna Jónsdóttir, chairman of Efling, led the meeting. The office staff, Ragnar Ólason, an expert in collective agreements and collective bargaining, and Viðar Þorsteinsson, head of education and membership affairs assisted Sólveig.
