Today Efling – union referred its collective bargaining with the Icelandic Confederation of Enterprise (SA) to the State Conciliation and Mediation Officer (SCMO). It is stated in the letter from Efling to the SCMO that the negotiations between the two parties in accordance with their negotiations plan have not made any progress. Article 24 of the laws on unions and labour disputes says that each party in a collective bargaining is permitted to refer the dispute to the SCMO. When a dispute has been referred to the SCMO he takes control of the negotiations.
“We are the only union that has presented its demands with numbered demands about salary increases. We have been open and honest with our negotiation partners. On the other hand, SA has shown us a total lack of interest and respect. We have not gotten any answers or responses. Therefore, it is right and inevitable to refer the dispute to the State Conciliation and Mediation Officer as is permitted in the laws on collective bargaining,” said Sólveig Anna Jónsdóttir chairman of Efling.
A negotiations meeting has not been called.
