Would you like to gain better control of your finances, build savings and create greater financial security?


This practical course introduces simple ways to gain a clearer overview of your finances and make informed decisions. Topics include:

  • income and expenses,
  • savings and emergency funds,
  • simple and realistic financial planning,
  • payment methods, loans and insurance,
  • pension savings and planning for the future,
  • buying a home and managing a household,
  • setting realistic financial goals.

The course is intended for people aged 18 and over who want to develop a better understanding of their personal finances. The instructor is Þóra Valný Yngvadóttir, a financial adviser with more than 25 years of experience in financial advice, education and coaching.


The course is taught in English.


Study period: 21 September to 5 October 2026

Classes: Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:00 to 12:00

Duration: 10 hours

Location: Mímir, Höfðabakki 9

Course fee: ISK 49,900. Efling members may apply for reimbursement from the appropriate educational fund, subject to the fund’s rules.
