Educational talks, meetings and courses
The course is intended for Efling members who work in preschools and are involved in care, support and daily work with children.
The course focuses on practical knowledge that is useful in preschool work. Subjects include communication, self development, computer skills, the upbringing and development of preschool children, creative work with children, multicultural preschool work and environmental education.
Course period: 14 September to 9 November 2026
Format: Blended learning, taught at Höfðabakki 9 and online
Length: 70 lessons
The vocational courses are held in cooperation between Efling and Mímir Continuing Education and are a prerequisite for the preschool assistant bridge programme. The programme is divided into two parts, and Vocational Courses 1 and 2 together consist of 140 lessons. Participants must complete the first course before continuing to the second one.
The course is taught in Icelandic. Mímir recommends that participants have Icelandic language skills at level A2 to B1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Those who are unsure about their Icelandic level can take a free placement test at Mímir before applying.
The course is free of charge for Efling members who work for public employers, as Efling’s vocational training funds cover the course fee. When applying, participants need to enter the payment code efling15 and click “Add payment code to application”.
