Would you like to take better control of your finances, save towards your goals and build greater financial security for the future?


This practical course introduces simple ways to improve your financial wellbeing, gain a clearer overview of your finances and make better decisions about your money.


Topics will include:

  • saving and building an emergency fund,
  • creating a simple and realistic financial plan,
  • payment methods, loans and insurance,
  • pension savings and planning for the future,
  • buying a home and managing household finances,
  • setting realistic financial goals.

The course is for people aged 18 and over who want to understand their finances better, improve their financial wellbeing and work towards their goals.


The instructor is Þóra Valný Yngvadóttir, a financial adviser with more than 25 years of experience in financial advice, education and coaching.


The course is taught in Icelandic.


Course dates: 21 September to 5 October 2026

Class times: Mondays and Wednesdays, 13:00–15:00

Duration: 10 hours over five sessions

Location: Mímir, Höfðabakki 9

Course fee: ISK 49,900. Efling members may apply for an education grant towards the course fee, subject to the rules of the relevant education fund.
