Care II - Vocational Training Course

Course period : 28 September - 9 December 2026

Course days : Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays

 Length : Total 95 lessons

The course is intended for Efling members who work in care within health and social services, both in people’s homes and in institutions. The course is suitable for those who provide assistance, care and support to disabled and elderly people and want to further strengthen their skills at work.

The course focuses on work related skills, practical knowledge and self confidence that are useful in daily work. Subjects include general work skills, workplace culture and self development, kitchen work and cleaning, as well as assistance and care in activities of daily living.

The vocational courses are held in cooperation between Efling and Mímir Continuing Education and can be a good next step for members who want to build on their experience and strengthen their position at work. The programme is divided into two parts, and Vocational Courses 1 and 2 together consist of 190 lessons. Vocational Course 1 for staff in health and social services is a prerequisite for this course.

The course is taught in Icelandic and participants are recommended to have Icelandic language skills of at least level A2 to B1. Those who are unsure about their Icelandic level can contact Mímir to check whether a placement test or guidance would be useful before applying.

The course is free of charge for Efling members who work for public employers, as Efling’s vocational training funds cover the course fee. When applying, participants need to enter the payment code efling15 and click “Add payment code to application”.
