Efling Union is seeking a strong specialist to manage the union’s vocational education and training matters. This is a new and exciting position within the union, and the successful candidate will play a key role in developing services and overseeing vocational training and continuing education for union members.

Main responsibilities:

  • Advisor to the union on all aspects of vocational education and training, continuing education and educational affairs.
  • Communication and contract negotiations with education providers who collaborate with Efling on professional courses and study programmes.
  • Quality control and development of course offerings.
  • Quality control and development of Efling’s educational grants and employer grants.
  • Participation in working groups, boards and committees relating to vocational education and training on behalf of Efling.
  • Participation in policy-making, cooperation, and development connected to the main pillars of vocational education and training in the general labour market, specifically: recognition of prior learning, competence analyses, job profiles, curricula, and trade certificates.
  • Overall supervision of educational and promotional material for union members in relation to vocational education and training.
  • Regular presentations to Efling’s board, colleagues and union members.

Education and competence requirements:

  • Experience in vocational education and training, continuing education, and/or organised educational work within the labour market.
  • A university degree relevant to the position. An advantage if in the field of education sciences, specifically vocational education, adult education or continuing education.
  • Initiative, ambition and independence at work.
  • Project management experience is an advantage.
  • Good organisational abilities and disciplined work practices.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Good written and spoken Icelandic and English.
