Wolt couriers met at Efling's offices today

Couriers working for Wolt met at Efling’s offices today to plan the next steps in their struggle for better wages and conditions.

Couriers at Wolt and similar companies are doing wage work. Their pay and rights must follow Icelandic collective agreements. Efling condemns the practice of cheating workers out of minimum wage and making them work under bogus self-employment arrangements instead.

Efling supports Wolt couriers in Iceland in their struggle for better wages and conditions. Together with the couriers, Efling will work to have them recognised as employees.

“The delivery company Wolt uses bogus self-employment. The couriers are left outside the unions and have few of the rights that working people in this country take for granted, such as sick pay and employer pension contributions. Efling stands with them even though they are not members of the union, because we see Wolt’s business model and the way the company operates as an attack on the rights of all workers in this country,” said Sólveig Anna Jónsdóttir, chairman of Efling.

Wolt couriers are welcome to contact Efling by email at efling@efling.is.
