The day concluded with all the union representatives gathering around a bonfire in Tumastaðaskógur, where they enjoyed guitar music and group singing.

Efling members turned out in large numbers for the May Day march on International Workers’ Day, 1 May. It is fair to say that the union’s banners were held high and were a prominent sight in downtown Reykjavík that day, serving as a reminder that it is the work of Efling members that creates the wealth of Icelandic society. There was a strong spirit of solidarity and determination among Efling members, who demanded the respect and working conditions they rightfully deserve. Later in the day, Efling hosted a splendid family celebration at the Whales of Iceland museum. Efling members of all ages gathered there with their families to enjoy excellent entertainment and a variety of refreshments.
