The Board of Efling expresses its solidarity with the couriers at Wolt who demonstrated great courage through protest actions this week in response to poor working conditions. Work performed by couriers at Wolt and similar companies constitutes wage labor. Consequently, wages and rights must align with standards set by Icelandic collective agreements. Efling condemns the practice of denying workers minimum standards and instead subjecting them to conditions of fake self-employment. Recently, Efling has been in contact with Wolt couriers in Iceland who have reached out to the union. The union has also gathered information on the struggles of trade unions and couriers with delivery companies in the Nordic region, including in Norway and Finland. Efling is prepared to support Wolt couriers in Iceland in their fight for improved conditions and intends to advocate for the recognition of their status as employees. Wolt couriers are welcome to contact the union by sending an email to efling@efling.is.

Stjórn Eflingar lýsir yfir samstöðu með sendlum hjá fyrirtækinu Wolt sem sýndu mikið hugrekki með mótmælaaðgerðum í vikunni vegna bágra kjara. Störf sendla hjá Wolt og öðrum sambærilegum fyrirtækjum eru launavinna. Laun og réttindi eiga því að vera í samræmi við íslenska kjarasamninga. Efling fordæmir það að verkafólk sé svikið um lágmarkskjör og þess í stað látið vinna undir skilmálum gerviverktöku. Efling hefur á síðastliðnum misserum átt í samskiptum við Wolt sendla á Íslandi sem leitað hafa til félagsins. Jafnframt hefur félagið kynnt sér baráttu stéttarfélaga og sendla á Norðurlöndum gagnvart sendlafyrirtækjum, meðal annars í Noregi og í Finnlandi. Félagið er tilbúið að styðja baráttu Wolt sendla á Íslandi fyrir bættum kjörum og vill beita sér fyrir viðurkenningu á stöðu þeirra sem launamenn. Wolt sendlum er velkomið að hafa samband við félagið með því að senda tölvupóst á netfangið efling@efling.is .

The department is under the chairman. The Department of Labor Rights as well as the Department of Education and Membership Affairs are discontinued. A new Operations Department will oversee all major shared infrastructure of the office. Alongside the founding of the department, a new position of HR representative will be created. The Department is under the CEO. New and available positions will be advertised. Alongside the changes, the following internal staffing changes are made: Rínar Magnússon, formerly director of the Service Department, will become Director of the Operations Department. Sigrún Helga Kristjánsdóttir will replace Rínar as head of the Service Department. Viðar Þorsteinsson will become the Director of the Labor Market and Membership Affairs Department. New hirings, along with training and preparations, will take place in the coming months. Final implementation of the changes is planned to be complete no later than January 1, 2027. “These changes have been under consideration for a while, and I view them as the final episode of the journey begun in 2022. The changes are intended to strengthen the ties of our office operations to the members and support their empowerment better. I also welcome that, with increased capacity, we can insource tasks and thus make more efficient use of union funds,” said Sólveig Anna Jónsdóttir, chairman of Efling Union.
