Nearly 100 Efling Union Representatives Strengthen Ties on Spring Excursion
At the end of May, nearly 100 union representatives from both the private and public sectors took part in Efling’s final union representative training session of the winter season. The day began with a workshop on strike action before participants set off on a mystery excursion aimed at strengthening solidarity within the group.
The first stop was in Hvolsvöllur, where the union representatives took part in a variety of team-building activities. Among other things, they received training in coordinated dance movements and took part in communication exercises designed to help them discover both what they had in common and what made each of them unique. Afterwards, part of the group joined a historical tour of Fljótshlíð, while others went hiking in Nauthúsagil.

The day concluded with all the union representatives gathering around a bonfire in Tumastaðaskógur, where they enjoyed guitar music and group singing.

This was the second consecutive year that Efling’s union representatives have taken part in a spring excursion together. Last year, the group travelled by snowmobile on Langjökull glacier. According to Efling Chairperson Sólveig Anna Jónsdóttir, this year’s excursion was exceptionally successful, and she believes the tradition is here to stay.
Efling is proud of the large number of members who have stepped forward to serve as union representatives. Their work forms the foundation of the union’s labour struggle, which in recent years has secured significant and measurable improvements in wages and working conditions for workers.
All Efling members are encouraged to become involved in representative roles, whether as union representatives in their workplaces or in other capacities within the union. Further information is available by emailing
